  • The Law Society of Kenya is a Premier Bar Association with membership of all Advocates In Kenya. Pursuant to section 26 of the Law Society of Kenya Act, 2014, the Society seeks to recruit Sectetary/ Chief Executive Officer, who shall hold office for a period of three years and shall be eligible for reappointment for a further term of three years.

    Duties

    The Secretary shall

  • Be the Chief Executive Officer of the Society and responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of the Secretariat and the affars and functions of the Society as the Council shall determine

  • Be the Secretary to the Council of the Law Society of Kenya and custodian of Board Minutes, all records and assets of the Society

  • Be responsible for the management and supervision of the funds of the Society as the Chief Accounting Officer for the Society

  • Develop and recommend to the Council short, medium and long term strategic plans, annual budget estimates and work plans while enhancing proper internal control systems and procedures as well as ensure continuous improvement of the secretariat services

  • Oversee the management and supervision of staff and the development of human resource management policies that include adoption of appropriate organizational structures, employee welfare, training, staff discipline, performance management and reward management

  • Oversee the implementation of programs, activities and studies approved by the General Assembly, and from timeto time submit appropriate reports o the Council and to the General Meeting:

  • Provide strategic thought leadership and guide society towards attainment of its strategic objective

  • Oversee the establishment of partnerships linkages, networks with external partners while spear heading donor collaboration and fundraising
    for project implementation as well as implement revenue generation programmes: and

  • Carry out any other function as specified by the General Meeting or the Council.

    Eligibility for appointments the Secretary tothe Society

  • A Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB. from a recognized university and a post graduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law:

  • Is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with at least ten years experience: and

  • Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
