Laikipia University Legal Officer Jobs in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff under his/her section.
  • Handle and advise on all legal matters for the University.
  • Assist contracted University lawyers in all court processing involving the University which
    include:
    a. Preparation of documents to be used as evidence in court.
    b. Holding of pre-trail briefings of witnesses and or University representatives.
    c. Gathering of evidence, facts and exchange of the same with university lawyers.
    d. Attending of court and briefing the University authorities on the development of
    cases.
    e. Ensuring that witnesses attend court when called to do so.
    f. Preparation of agreements and/or contracts for approval by relevant parties.
    g. Perusal and advising the University on fees payable to contracted University
    lawyers as per the Advocates’ Remuneration Order.
    h. Ensuring that the University adheres to all the laid down procedures and regulations
    in employee matters, disciplinary measures and any other matter which has legal
    implications.
  • Attend and counsel on staff and students disciplinary cases.
  • Guide and assist in the review and interpretation of University Statutes.
  • Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

    Requirements

  • Holders of a Bachelor
    of Law (LLB) degree from a recognized University.
  • Be admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, and have a current practicing
    certificate.
  • Applicants with a Masters in Business Administration will have an added advantage.
  • Be a holder of CPS (K).
  • Be a registered Member to a relevant professional body – LSK &/ICPS (K).
  • At least 2 years working experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Civil, Criminal and Corporate Legal.
    Practices.
