Paediatric Neurologist - V/FT/165/2022 - 1 Post

Position Summary

The Paediatric Neurologist will work closely with other medical professionals to ensure that their
patients receive the best possible care.

Duties and Responsibilities

Diagnose complex medical problems by referring to a patient’s history, examining them and conducting neurological tests.

Counsel patients on neurological disorders and its background.

Order neurological tests and interpret the results of neuroimaging studies.

Monitor the behavioral and cognitive side effects of treatment and medication.

Order supportive care services for patients.

Participate in research activities.

Perform and interpret electroencephalography, electromyography and nerve conduction velocity tests.

To mentor medical students and other junior doctors.

Any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of the Department.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from a recognized institution by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.

Master’s Degree in Paediatrics and Child health or equivalent from the University of Nairobi or any other recognized University by the Medical Practitioner and Dentist Council.

Fellowship in Paediatric Neurology from a recognized institution.

Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.

Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC.

Valid Practice License from Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.

Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.

Proficiency in computer applications.

At least one year working experience as a Paediatric Neurologist in a reputable hospital.
