Paediatric Cardiologist – V/FT/160/2022 - 1 Post

Position Summary

The Paediatric Cardiologist specializes in diagnosing, treating and preventing diseases that mainly affect the heart and blood vessels of children and participates in research in the area of specialization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performing examinations and echo on young children to assess and diagnose their condition.

Analyzing records, reports and test and examination results to diagnose medical conditions.

Discussing the results and explaining procedures with patients and their parents.

Conducting ward rounds, clinics and theatre days as scheduled/directed.

Conduct medical research.

Training, supervising and mentoring Pediatricians, Clinical Officers, Medical Officers, Medical Interns and other students.

Referring the patients to other specialists if necessary.

Measuring and tracking the improvement of the patient’s cardiac health.

Any other duties as directed by the Head of the Department.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.

Master of Medicine in Pediatrics and Child Health from a recognized institution.

Subspecialty / fellowship training in pediatric cardiology from a recognized institution.

Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).

Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC.

Valid Practice License.

Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.

Proficiency in computer applications.

At least one (1) year working experience as a Paediatric Cardiologist in a busy hospital.
