Clinical Pathologist – V/FT/146/2022 – 2 Posts

Position Summary

The Clinical Pathologist performs clinical chemistry, hematology, microbiology, molecular tests, training and research in the field of pathology.

The officer is to report to the head of pathology.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform and report bone marrow aspirates and trephine biopsy.

  • Report and interpret peripheral blood films.

  • Reporting and interpretation of specialised tests in hematology e.g. flow cytometry.

  • Management of quality processes in chemical pathology.

  • Interpretation of culture and sensitivity results and annual antibiogram data.

  • Verification of critical, unusual and abnormal test results before release.

  • Approval of SOPs for use and ensuring compliance with respect to regulatory requirements.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MbCHB) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.

  • Master of Medicine in Clinical Pathology or Human Pathology from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.

  • Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council KMPDC).

  • Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC.

  • Valid Practice License from the Kenya medical practitioners and dentists council.

  • Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.

  • Proficiency in computer applications.

  • At least 1 year experience as a Clinical Pathologist in a busy hospital.
