  • Reporting directly to the Board, the CEO will develop and deliver business and people strategies while overseeing administrative systems which support the Sacco’s overall strategic objectives and growth.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    Financial Perspective

  • Implementation of the Society’s Strategic plan, policies and business plans

  • Ensure Financial strategy supports the achievement of cost savings and revenue targets

  • Co-ordination of the SACCO activities to ensure optimum and efficient utilization of all SACCO assets and resources

  • Manage costs and expenditures within the approved budget and advise on initiatives for optimization

  • Manage Sacco cash flow ensure there is sufficient liquidity

  • Manage the credit portfolio and provide reports to the Board of directors

    Customer Perspective

  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal clients and ensure effective communication for smooth running of business operations.

  • Build relationships with external stakeholder such as banks to ensure facilities are available and appropriate

  • Represent the SACCO in forums, business transactions and any other transaction authorized by the Board of Directors;

  • Identify, analyse and negotiate purchases, ensure that the business plan, objectives are achieved by establishing strategic partnerships with service provides

    Internal Process

  • Oversee External Audit exercises and implementing recommendations set forth

  • Oversee the implementation of training plans and ensure it contributes to building the right skills for the business

  • Manage the compensation and benefits function to ensure retention of staff and attraction of talent

  • Manage the operational HR service delivery to ensure full alignment with the business culture and compliance to policies and procedures

  • Continuously improve ICT infrastructure and its business

  • Oversee procurement process of the Sacco while maintaining optimum reorder levels and optimizing cost.

  • Undertake and be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate human resource management policies and practices including recruitment, training and development, performance management and remuneration for all staff.

  • Timely preparation and presentation of various progress reports to board of directors

  • Review and implement regulations, internal systems, structures, procedures and controls to improve the quality of service

    Learning and Growth

  • Coach and mentor team members to build succession

  • Foster a growth oriented, positive and encouraging environment while keeping employees and management accountable to company policies, procedures and guidelines.

  • Ensure selection of competent and qualified personnel

  • Advise management decisions based on analysis of data and own expertise

  • Setting up performance management system and Monitor key performance areas and ensure all targets are met centric to motivation and continuous improvement.

  • Manage the compensation and benefits function to ensure retention of staff and attraction of talent

  • To have a well-defined Communication and Engagement model in place to ensure all teams understand the performance of the business and also that they understand the needs of their teams

  • Leave management of SACCO to reduce leave liability

    Academic, Professional Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting or Degree in Business Related Field) or Diploma in Co-operative Management plus CPA II or its equivalent.

  • Computer literate

  • Age 30-40 years

  • At least 3 years in senior management position preferably in SACCO.

  • Business development and experience working with MSMEs in marginalized environment is an added advantage

    Desirable Skills

  • Good public and human relations, honest and intelligible.

  • Very good in written and verbal communication skills.

  • Decisive and approachable.

  • Excellent membership/customer service.
