KonTerra Short-term Consultancy Opportunity – Qualitative Data Collectors Jobs in South Sudan

  • The KonTerra Group is implementing a food-for-assets programme evaluation for WFP in South Sudan, delayed from earlier in 2020.

  • This work will be carried out in Juba and several States in the coming months.

  • Most of the original evaluation team will not be able to travel to the country, so we need locally-based consultants to undertake the qualitative interviews at State and County level.

  • This will be done in close cooperation with, and with strong guidance from, the existing team who will be in regular contact throughout the field phase.

  • A quantitative survey is being done separately.

    Therefore we are urgently seeking two, possibly three, South Sudanese nationals (or potentially expats currently in the country) to undertake this field work, who should each be able to offer robust experience in two or more of the following areas :

  • Previous programme evaluation experience;
    Conditional cash and food aid programmes;

  • Livelihoods, asset creation and labour practices in a rural setup;

    Humanitarian Approaches

  • Evaluation of cash transfer programming;

  • Gender expertise / good knowledge of gender issues in rural development;

  • Experience of working with or for WFP would be welcome.

  • Likely period of engagement: up to two weeks during late November/early December 2020 (still subject to confirmation), which will involve submitting detailed notes from the interviews.

  • Travel ex-Juba to several States will be required, with UNHAS tickets and ground travel covered. Daily fees (and a per diem where necessary) will be paid. Further details will be provided to suitable candidates, including a copy of the completed Inception Report and evaluation methodology and tools.
