  • The purpose of a work integrated learning coordinator is to coordinate and monitor the successful placement of all students with industry for WIL hours. The WIL coordinator is expected to create awareness regarding the Work Readiness Programmes, the actual placement as well as the various processes and policies regarding WIL.

  • The WIL coordinator will also need to coordinate all placement visits as well as liaise with the head office by providing tracking and periodic reports. The WIL coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of the assessment and moderation of the logbooks and portfolios of evidence. The WIL coordinator is the point of contact for students, and other stakeholders in relation to queries and feedback for WIL.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identification of all students that will complete WIL for the respective year.

  • Establish the WIL committee for the campus, by appointing subject matter expert lecturers, ensuring an adequate representation of skills and experience.

  • Coordination of the monitoring visits of all students.

  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops creating awareness regarding WRP as well as the various types of WIL activities as specified in by the regulators such as DHET, SETAs and CHE.

  • Coordinate the assessment and moderation of the portfolios of evidence (summative assessment).

  • Facilitate the approved process for WIL as per the policy.

  • Implementation and remediation of the Work Readiness programme.

  • Monitor internships in the TVET sector.

    Educational requirements:

  • Suitable National
    Diploma or bachelor’s degree/Honours Degree that meets the one-up to lecture on the programme.

  • 2-3 years’ experience as a lecturer in private higher education.

  • Advanced knowledge and technical skills on WIL practices and managing placements.

  • Thorough knowledge of work integrated learning as per the Council on Higher Education and other regulators.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general administration support to all staff involved in the facilitation of experimental learning.

  • Schedule and chair the WIL committee meetings.

  • Create a schedule for the vehicle usage to conduct visits.

  • Schedule workshops.

  • Coordinate the work readiness programme implementation.

  • Create trackers to monitor the collection, assessment, and storage of the POEs.

  • Carry out best practices according to the policy and process for WIL.

  • Schedule meetings with potential industry partners.

  • Schedule meetings to engage with institutions that may be interested in signing memorandums of understanding.
