Marine Engineering Technician Ii (Ri.8)
Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include:

Inspection and maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment;

Inspection of works;

Installation and testing of plant and equipment;

Designing of simple structures;

Maintenance and manning of institute research vessels.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade C (Plain) or its equivalent;

Higher national Diploma in one of the following disciplines:- Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building and Civil Engineering, or its equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade C (Plain)or its equivalent;

Ordinary Diploma in Marine Engineering/Electrical;

2nd Class Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency – Unlimited or Limited in their respective fields.
