Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified Swimming Instructor to join our team. As a School Swimming Instructor, your primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive swimming instruction and ensure the safety of students in the aquatic environment. You will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment, promoting water safety, and developing students' swimming skills. This position typically involves working with students of various age groups.

Duties and Responsibilities

Swimming and Instruction:

Plan and conduct swimming lessons based on the students' skill levels.

Teach various swimming techniques, including strokes, breathing, and floating.

Provide individualized attention to students to enhance their swimming abilities.

Safety Oversight:

Enforce and adhere to safety protocols and procedures in and around the swimming pool.

Monitor students closely during lessons to prevent accidents and respond promptly to any emergencies.

Instruct students on water safety practices and emergency procedures.

Curriculum Development:

Develop age-appropriate swimming curriculum and lesson plans.

Modify instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.

Integrate water safety education into the curriculum.

Progress Evaluation:

Assess and evaluate students' swimming skills and progress regularly.

Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress to parents or guardians.

Equipment Maintenance:

Ensure the proper maintenance and cleanliness of swimming equipment and facilities.

Report any issues or concerns regarding the swimming pool or equipment to appropriate personnel.

Communication:

Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding swimming lessons, progress, and any safety-related matters.

Collaborate with school administrators to coordinate swim schedules and events.

Certifications and Training:

Maintain current certifications in lifeguarding, CPR, and any other required qualifications.

Stay informed about the latest trends and techniques in swimming

instruction and safety.

Supervision:

Supervise students during free swim periods and ensure a safe and orderly pool environment.

Monitor and enforce pool rules and regulations

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate records of students' progress and achievements.

Keep attendance records for swimming lessons.

Professional Development:

Stay informed about industry best practices and incorporate new teaching methods when applicable.

Attend relevant training sessions or workshops to enhance girl’s swimming instructional and safety skills.

Qualifications

KCSE Certificate

At least a level 2 Swimming Coaching Certificate

Certificate on Aquatic Safety from YMCA, KLF or equivalent institution

At least have 3 years of experience dealing with children from 18years and below in a school setup

A great communicator. You are able to provide clear and effective written and verbal communication.

A team player - you are ready and willing to support colleagues.

A problem solver - you are able to identify challenges and make an effort to find appropriate solutions.

Must be creative and interesting to learners.

Excellent analytical skills and presentation.
