Kirinyaga University Laboratory Technician (Chemistry) Jobs in Kenya



Key Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory experiments in compliance with established procedures.

  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment and tools in clean, safe, and good condition.

  • Follow preventive maintenance procedures and report equipment repairs or malfunctions.

  • Generate routine reports on laboratory experiments.

  • Conduct laboratory tests according to equipment specifications and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Order and stock laboratory supplies and instruments.

  • Collaborate with other technicians to complete laboratory tasks within assigned timelines.

  • Develop new laboratory procedures or enhancements to improve test quality and productivity.

  • Follow proper waste disposal and recycling methodologies.

  • Write experimental procedures and develop reports of test results.

  • Present test results using graphs and charts.

  • Work with immediate supervisor to resolve experiment and equipment‑related issues.

  • Educate less experienced staff on SOPs and equipment usage.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma in Analytical/Industrial Chemistry or equivalent from a recognized institution.

  • At least three (3) years’ teaching experience at University level as a Lecturer, or six (6) years’ research/industry experience.
