Our focus areas are Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Disaster Risk Management (DRM). Kimetrica provides services globally, and has offices in Kenya, Ethiopia and the United States of America.

Kimetrica will be conducting an Impact Evaluation for USAID’s Partnership for Resilience and Economic Growth (PREG) that have brought together humanitarian and development partners to build resilience among the vulnerable pastoralist communities in the arid and semi-arid lands (ASAL) region, situated primarily in Northern Kenya.

For this, Kimetrica is recruiting 16 motivated and proactive individuals as Qualitative Research Interviewers for this project.

This will be a short-term assignment.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Travel to the study areas/ sites selected for the qualitative study in any of the nine counties of Kenya (Baringo, Garissa, Isiolo, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu, Tana River, Turkana and Wajir).
  • Participate in the selection of study participants (based on the set rules) in collaboration with Qualitative Supervisor and the Team Leader.
  • Conduct FGDs, Indepth Interviews and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs)
  • Transcribe qualitative interviews
  • Write a detailed report for the FGDs, Indepth Interviews and KIs using notes and interview transcriptions.
  • Extract summary reports from the detailed one
  • Conduct
    similar activities
  • Attend a three days training to be provided by the subject matter specialists


    Key Requirements

    Education

  • Preferred: Bachelors, master’s or Advanced Degree in the Social Sciences, Agriculture, Nutrition or Public Health or any other relevant field.

    Prior Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in conducting qualitative interviews.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English, Kiswahili and local language in Baringo, Garissa, Isiolo, Mandera, Marsabit, Samburu, Tana River, Turkana and Wajir.
  • Ability to translate local languages and Kiswahili into written English proficiently
  • Ability to multi‐task, problem solve, and work with others to resolve challenges.
  • Ability to follow‐up on tasks and follow through on deadlines are critical skills in this position
  • Open‐minded and willing to learn new skills and approaches to research
