Requirements

For appointment to this grade an officer must:

• Have a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines:

• Environmental Science, Environmental Conservation and Natural Resource Management, Environmental Conservation, Environmental Education, Environmental Management and Conservation, Environmental Resources Conservation, Environmental Studies and Community Development, Community Resource Conservation, Engineering, Meteorology, Climatology, Environmental Law, Economics or any other relevant field or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

• Have relevant working experience of not less than (10) years.

• Be registered as a member of a professional body.

• Have demonstrated professional competence and administrative ability required at this level.

• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-

• Implementation of programs, projects and activities in the Department.

• Enforcement of relevant rules, laws and regulations and monitoring the resilience and health of the environment.

• Promote environment, natural resources activities in the county.

• Assist in development of policies on waste disposal and management.

• Carrying out comprehensive environment assessment.

• Monitoring

and evaluation of Solid Waste management activities.

• Assist in the implementation of solid waste management related projects andv programs.

• Collect, analyze and report data and information on environment and natural resources activities.

• Compile regular reports as may be required on environment and natural resources activities.

• Identify needs, challenges and problems for developing effective extension methods and practices through consultation with key stakeholders, including community producers and government technical and extension agencies.

• Develop and implement action plans for enhancing public knowledge and skills of best environmental management practices.
