Requirements for Appointment

  • KCSE mean grade qualification from a recognized institution.

  • Valid driving license free from current endorsements for required vehicle classes.

  • Served in the grade of Driver II, Grade AD 3 or comparable position for at least 3 years.

  • Passed Occupational Trade Test Grade II.

  • Public Service Vehicle (PSV) certificate.

  • Defensive Driving Certificate from Automobile Association (AA) or equivalent.

  • Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one week from a recognized institution.

  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service.

  • Attended a First Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one week from a recognized institution.

  • Demonstrated merit and ability in driving and vehicle maintenance.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Drive motor vehicles as authorized.

  • Carry out minor mechanical repairs.

  • Ensure security of the vehicle on and off the road.

  • Ensure safety of passengers and/or goods.

  • Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles.

  • Perform routine checks on cooling, oil, electrical, brake systems, and tyre pressure.

  • Carry out minor repairs including oiling and greasing.

  • Detect and report malfunctioning vehicle systems.

  • Maintain work tickets for assigned vehicles.

  • Ensure vehicle has necessary documentation.

  • Ensure vehicle has relevant repair tools and is serviced on time.
