The Role

This is a new and strategically important position within a dynamic network of civil society, government and research partners, which will place the successful applicant at the heart of efforts to strengthen accountability and building institutional sustainability.

We are seeking a Kenyan with the experience, skills and confidence to put to use already set programme implementation protocols to increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness in implementation of already existing and upcoming projects. The role will require competence in accounting, book keeping, budgeting and reporting.

The goal is to prepare and generate real time reports for different projects and the organization at large. The project officer will work closely with the Finance and Administration Officer of KEWASNET and the Programme Management Team to ensure that the organization operated optimally, effectively and efficiently and that it responds to the needs of stakeholders.

Principal Accountabilities

Project Management:

  • Support partners to manage all aspects of the project cycle including planning, Implementation and monitoring. Ensure all project documentation and reports produced on
    time.

  • Coordinate with partner for timely submission of quarterly reports and KPI’s.

  • Work with the project team to review the progress reports , analyse KPIs and timely feedback to the partners .

  • Develop and implement Project’s work plans on annual/six monthly/quarterly basis.

  • Carryout regular field visits to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.

  • Prepare briefing papers/project updates for periodic review meetings.

  • Compile project beneficiary case studies when required.

  • Support NRPC in new project proposal writings, when required.

  • Any other task assigned by the CEO.

    Partnership Development:

  • Maintain and strengthen partnership with implementing partners.

  • Support the CEO for networking with key stakeholders working in the project districts.

  • Support the CEO and NRPC in building partner staff capacity in program management.

    Advocacy:

  • Participate in profile raising activities including the ‘International Days Celebration’. Assist partners and involve with them to conduct workshops
    and conferences.

  • Represent KEWASNET at conferences and workshops and support the CEO in raising organizational profile.

    Financial & Resource Management:

  • Work closely with the Finance department to help prepare monitoring expenditure

    Person Specification

    The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following;

    Experience and Qualification

  • University Degree in relevant field (Social Sciences, Project Management, Development Studies, Public Health, Water and Sanitation).

  • Minimum of 4 years working experience, ideally in a National NGO or well acknowledged NGO, having
    experience of working with government partners and project fund/grant management.

  • Experience on all aspects of project management.

  • Experience in management of multi-year, multi- partner projects

    Skills (Special Training or Competence):

  • Report writing.

  • Problem solving.

  • Analytical.

  • Social mobilization.

  • Knowledge of database management and good command over MS Office.

  • Good understanding to work with project budgets, forecasts and reports.

  • Good communication skills (both oral and written).

  • Proficient in both verbal and written English.
