Duties and Responsibilities

Formulating and reviewing health policies, strategies, guidelines and protocols

Overseeing provision of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services

Providing sub-specialized services to patients
Planning and managing hospital healthcare programs

Initiating and managing healthcare projects and programs

Developing intervention activities and programs for training health professionals in community health and health management in hospitals/health facilities

Initiating and coordinating operational and clinical research

Facilitating implementation of research findings to improve quality of service delivery

Coordinating and providing specifications for procurement of health commodities

Ensuring adherence to health standards and guidelines

Facilitating training and development of medical services staff

Mobilizing resources and promoting partnerships and collaborations with hospital agencies and development partners in promotion of health programmes and projects

Monitoring and evaluating provision of health services

Preparing, planning and budgeting for the directorates

Coordinating capacity development and performance management.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.

Master’s degree in Pediatrics and Child Health.

Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.

Current retention certificate

Valid Practice License.

Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC
Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.

Proficiency in computer applications.

At least three years of working experience as a Pediatrics and Child Health Specialist in a reputable hospital.
