Duties and Responsibilities Review medical history and records of cardiovascular patients in order to understand their medical conditions better and diagnose their diseases properly in the cardiovascular unit.
Conduct physical examination relative to patients’ medical history, to evaluate a patient's current heart vessels conditions and identify the current or potential heart problems.
Conduct tests for a more precise diagnosis so as to identify any abnormalities, congenital heart defects, or heart and coronary artery conditions.
Refer cardiovascular patients for further diagnosis, if need be, by other medical specialists such as the ECG Technicians and radiologist.
Review and interpret the laboratory or radiology test results, review cardiovascular medical reports and decide on the best treatment or therapy option.
Prescribe and administer prescribed medication and other lifestyle therapies to cardiovascular patients in the cardiology unit.
Explain to cardiovascular patients of risk factors that could possibly be damaging the heart, such as obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, smoking, poor eating habits, or a family history of heart diseases.
Collaborate with other medical specialists in treating and managing patients with complex medical condition that involve cardiovascular illnesses.
Promote heart health and provide rehabilitation
to those who have undergone cardiovascular surgery or other heart treatments in the cardiology unit.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from a recognized institution.
Master of Medicine in Cardiology from a recognized institution
Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
Current retention certificate
Valid Practice License.
Recognition as a specialist by the KMPDC
Professional Insurance Indemnity Cover.
Proficiency in computer applications.
At least three years of working experience as a Cardiologist in a reputable hospital.
