Kenyatta National Hospital Deputy Director (Nursing Services) (1 Post) Jobs

Job Group K2

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing, maintaining and implementing nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice and operational policies while maintaining compliance with National laws and regulations.
  • Communicating and interpreting policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor their practices and implementation.
  • Coordinating patient care activities in collaboration with nurse managers, administrative and other technical personnel in the Hospital.
  • Developing nursing standards and playing a leading role in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Ensuring that the planning and delivery of nursing services are addressed and meet the changing needs of clients.
  • Collaborating with consultants, administrative and other medical staff to improve the quality of services to patients and to resolve identified problems.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of strategic plans for nursing services.
  • Participating in the annual planning and budgeting for nursing services during preparation of the Hospital budget and ensure proper utilization of allocated funds.
  • Preparing employees for the desired changes in working styles, attitudes and work ethics.
  • Planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the divisional/individual performance targets.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution.
    or
    Higher Diploma in Nursing or Diploma in Advanced Nursing
  • Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) from a recognized university.
  • At least three (3) years experience at the level of Deputy Chief Nurse in a large Hospital.
  • Evidence of at least one (1) month training in general management.
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
  • Registration with the Nursing Council and possession of a current retention certificate.
  • Valid practising license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
  • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six weeks from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrated a high degree of professional competencies and administered capability as well as broad experience in Nursing and Health care standards and programmes.
    The position is on a three year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring implementation and monitoring of the ICT Strategy to enhance the delivery of services, while clearly demonstrating ability to meet deadlines.
  • Leading and driving a culture of innovation and creativity in seeking ICT solutions to organisational challenges.
  • Customizing ICT systems into an interactive infrastructure which enables faster access to data and information and the sharing of ICT resources by users
  • Assuring functionality of operating systems, network and applications software for effective communication and put in place measures which ensure security, privacy and integrity of ICT systems.
  • Maintaining and/or developing new databases on
    a need basis.
  • Ensuring Disaster and Recovery Management.
  • Planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the divisional/individual performance targets.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • A Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or its accepted equivalent from a recognized institution
  • A Masters degree in Computer Science or any other ICT related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Possess Professional certificate in either Microsoft certified Engineering, Microsoft Certified Professional, Database Administration or Systems Development.
  • Possess programming skills.
  • At least 6 years progressive experience in Senior Management level.
  • Certification from relevant recognized professional bodies.

    Kenyatta National Hospital Medical Specialist II, Oncolocy (CTC) Jobs

    Job Group K4 (1 Post)

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performing clinical procedures and making decisions on patients’ management in the area of specialization.
  • Conducting regular Ward Rounds.
  • Responding to consultations from other clinical specialties.
  • Conducting specialist out-patient clinics.
  • Participating in assessment of patients as may be required by the Hospital Management.
  • Participating in research, teaching and supervising the performance of both medical and non-medical staff as well as post-graduate students.
  • Participating in preparation of annual budgets for the department.
  • Participating in Administrative activities of the department.
  • Participating in delivery of hospital strategic plan and performance contract.

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters Degree in Medicine (Mmed) in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent from a recognized University.
  • Proven experience of not less than one (1) year at the level of Medical Specialist.
  • Specialist Recognition and retention Certificate from the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board of Kenya.
  • Evidence of research and at least two (2) professional publications in reputable local or international journals on particular scientific findings/practices in the relevant field.
  • Certificate in computer operations from a recognized institution.
