Kenyatta National Hospital Chief Medical Specialist - Paediatric Pulmonologist Jobs in Keny;Responsible to the Head of Department for provision of specialized diagnostic, curative, rehabilitative, and preventive health care services to the population under their care, ensuring quality health care delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implement clinical decisions for specialized inpatient and outpatient care, including promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services.
Implement hospital programmes within the speciality.
Champion continuous quality healthcare standards and patient safety guidelines.
Mentor and coach staff in the speciality.
Coordinate intervention activities and training programs for health professionals in community health and hospital management.
Implement clinical review protocols, procedures, and work instructions for specialized care.
Coordinate and manage referral care within hospital and national referral policies.
Consult with other specialists to address complex medical issues.
Undertake research activities in paediatric pulmonology and implement findings to improve service delivery.
Perform emergency medical procedures.
Collaborate and respond to consultation requests from other specialists across the hospital.
Provide high standards of specialized clinical services in wards and clinics.
Conduct regular rounds with registrars and officers to assist in patient management.
Communicate with patients about their illness, treatment outlook, recovery, or disability.
Carry out specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, medical, or surgical procedures.
Teach medical specialists‑in‑training, medical officers, interns, and students.
Execute medico‑legal duties including filling P3 forms, court attendance, and forensic duties.
Participate in community diagnosis, preventive and promotive care, and treatment.
Utilize patient data to benefit both customers
and service providers.
Undertake medical research and clinical audits, implementing findings.
Qualifications and Experience
Master of Medicine in Paediatrics and Child Health from a recognized institution.
Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent qualification.
Certification/Fellowship in Paediatric Pulmonology from a recognized institution.
Specialist recognition certificate as a Paediatric Pulmonologist by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
Physicians with interest in Paediatric Pulmonology who have completed MMed and are undergoing pre‑KMPDC registration attachment are encouraged to apply.
Registration certificate by the Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentists Council.
Valid practicing licence as Paediatric Pulmonologist from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
