Kenya Veterinary Board Veterinary Officers Jobs in Kenya;This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance and supervision of a Senior Officer and may be deployed in any of the following functional areas:

Registration and Licensing

  • Issue registration certificates and practicing licenses to practitioners.

  • Assess and verify indexing, internship, registration, and licensing application forms.

  • Ensure accuracy of indexing, internship, registration, and licensing data for approval.

  • Ascertain required minimum qualifications for indexing and registration.

  • Compile and process data on licensing applications.

  • Assist in processing registration certificates and practicing licenses of Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Paraprofessionals.

  • Maintain a register of applicants for indexing, internship, and registration.

  • Attend to and process enquiries on registration and licensing of veterinary practices.

  • Verify correctness of registers of licensed veterinary service delivery facilities.

  • Ensure document management including e‑filing.

  • Supervise and guide officers working under him/her.

    Veterinary Research and Standards

  • Develop standards for inspection of institutions involved in veterinary and animal health training.

  • Develop minimum requirements for entry into animal health courses.

  • Develop curriculum standards for training in animal health.

  • Develop guidelines for pre‑registration examinations.

  • Develop telemedicine guidelines for practice.

  • Develop guidelines for consultant colleges.

  • Develop CPD guidelines.

  • Formulate and disseminate the Code of Ethics to registered persons.

  • Conduct desktop research on animal health, welfare, and public health, advising the Board on best practices.

  • Develop guidelines for veterinary internship.

  • Develop standards for registration, licensing, and regulation of animal welfare institutions.

    Education and Training

  • Verify processed CPD applications, waiver requests, and activities.

  • Respond to enquiries on education and training.

  • Maintain a register of CPD applications and waivers.

  • Review and process pre‑registration examination applications.

  • Conduct pre‑registration examinations for Veterinary Surgeons and Paraprofessionals.

  • Verify submitted internship documents.

  • Assess internship logbooks for registration purposes.

  • Undertake document management including e‑filing.

  • Analyze curricula for training in veterinary and animal health.

  • Assess human resource and training programs necessary
    for efficient service delivery.

  • Conduct examinations for foreign nationals seeking temporary registration.

  • Assess capacity of veterinary and animal health institutions for registration.

  • Monitor graduates on internship.

  • Supervise CPD for Veterinary Surgeons and Paraprofessionals.

    Veterinary Technologies

  • Receive and process applications for deployment of veterinary technologies.

  • Capture data from applicants deploying veterinary technologies.

  • Process enquiries on deployment of veterinary technologies.

  • Assist in sensitization on telemedicine guidelines.

  • Maintain a register of applicants deploying veterinary technologies.

  • Assist in supervising veterinary technologies deployed for practice.

    Compliance

  • Conduct inspection of facilities offering veterinary services.

  • Conduct inspection of veterinary and animal health training institutions.

  • Enforce veterinary standards on animal welfare.

  • Sensitize practitioners on the VSVP Act, Regulations, and Code of Ethics.

  • Enforce reporting of notifiable diseases.

  • Investigate cases of misconduct and malpractice.

  • Assist in legal proceedings against violators of the VSVP Act.

  • Participate in Board publicity activities.

  • Conduct data mining and surveillance to support enforcement.

  • Support legal action against offenders of the VSVP Act.

    Market Surveillance

  • Enforce veterinary standards in animal welfare.

  • Institute legal proceedings against violators and close illegal practices.

  • Develop inspection checklists.

  • Identify early warning signs of unlawful conduct.

  • Sensitize the public on the VSVP Act, Regulations, and Code of Ethics.

  • Collect surveillance data for reporting.

  • Address complaints related to market surveillance.

  • Gather and evaluate market intelligence.

  • Carry out post‑market surveillance on veterinary medicines
