Kenya Veterinary Board Principal Supply Chain Management Officer Jobs in Kenya



Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and review supply chain management policies, systems, regulations, procedures, strategies, and programmes.

  • Coordinate development and implementation of procurement plans and budgets, including expected outcomes.

  • Coordinate sourcing of suppliers through requests for quotations.

  • Ensure timely delivery of goods, services, and works; conduct market research and surveys.

  • Approve stores requisitions for issuance.

  • Coordinate preparation of purchase orders, obtain authorized signatures, and forward procurement documents to Finance Manager for payment processing.

  • Prepare quarterly reports for submission to the National Treasury and Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).

  • Coordinate development of detailed tender specifications and performance standards to facilitate procurement of capital equipment, goods, and services in compliance with government procedures and regulations.

  • Coordinate procurement of goods, works, and services while ensuring compliance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015, regulations, circulars, and internationally recognized procurement procedures.

  • Coordinate cost‑effective disposal of obsolete machinery, equipment, furniture, and other salvage goods in accordance with government policies and procedures.

  • Review progress and annual reports of the procurement function.

  • Develop terms of contracts and tenders for procurement of equipment, materials, and services.

  • Assess and evaluate capability and performance of suppliers of goods, works, and services.

    Person Specification

    For appointment to this
    grade, an officer must have:

  • Nine (9) years’ cumulative service experience in the relevant field, three (3) of which must be at Senior Supply Chain Management Officer grade or equivalent position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

  • Certified Procurement and Supply Professional of Kenya (CPSP‑K) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

  • Membership of the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) or equivalent professional body in good standing.

  • Valid practicing license.

  • Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.

  • Proficiency in computer applications.
