Kenya Veterinary Board Assistant Director - Internal Audit& Risk Assurance Jobs in Kenya

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate development, implementation, and review of audit policies, strategies, standards, and guidelines.

Provide independent assurance on design and operation of risk management processes.

Facilitate audit assignments in line with the approved audit work plan.

Ensure compliance of accountable records and documents, and prepare audit papers.

Coordinate monitoring and evaluation of implementation of audit recommendations from internal and external audits.

Monitor and report on KVB’s overall risk profile.

Initiate information systems audit engagements including testing, evaluation, and reporting of results.

Facilitate preparation of reports and analyses communicating audit results for relevant business conditions and risk control.

Safeguard KVB’s assets by verifying existence, ownership, and valuation.

Coordinate review and evaluation of internal controls, assess adequacy and effectiveness, and propose improvements.

Manage investigations by monitoring and tracking progress of cases allocated to auditors.

Support divisions in risk profiling.

Facilitate special audits and investigations, ensuring follow‑up mechanisms are implemented.

Assess exposures resulting from ineffective or missing control practices.

Coordinate implementation of new technologies and business applications.

Person Specification

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

Twelve (12) years’ relevant work experience, three (3) of which must be at Principal Internal Auditor grade

or comparable position.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (Finance/Accounting option) or equivalent qualification.

Master’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting/Finance option) or equivalent qualification.

Membership of ICPAK, IIA, ISACA, or relevant professional body in good standing.

Valid practicing certificate.

Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.

Proficiency in computer applications.
