Kenya Tea Development Agency Manager Purchasing Jobs;Manage sourcing and tender processes, coordinate relevant committees, and ensure procurement activities comply with organizational policies and best practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
Source goods, works, and services through tenders, proposals, and quotations.
Maintain updated supplies list as per policies and procedures.
Liaise with departments on purchasing requirements.
Prepare tender documents in line with approved policies.
Oversee agenda preparation for tender committee and board meetings.
Coordinate bidders’ inquiries.
Negotiate pricing contracts with contractors and suppliers.
Maintain tender and procurement records.
Research foreign and domestic suppliers and monitor supply/demand changes.
Evaluate suppliers on multiple criteria and store past bids.
Supervise subordinate staff, delegate assignments, and identify training needs.
Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and standards in procurement.
Participate in developing KTDA’s purchasing strategy.
Support recruitment of departmental staff.
Meet contractors and suppliers as necessary.
Identify opportunities for cost savings in purchasing.
Monitor purchase frequency and recommend efficiency improvements.
Establish professional relationships with competitive suppliers offering quality and favorable credit terms.
Ensure suppliers are aware of KTDA’s business objectives.
Develop purchasing and cost‑reduction strategies.
Implement quality control standards for departmental services.
Qualifications / Skills / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, or related
field.
Professional certification in Supply Chain Management/Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies/Logistics Management.
Membership in KISM, CIPS, or CSPS.
Minimum 8 years’ experience in supply chain management, purchasing, or international logistics, with at least 3 years in a similar role.
Proven experience as a purchasing manager.
Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
Strong business sense and interest in market dynamics.
Ability to manage departmental budgets, resources, processes, and relationships.
Thorough knowledge of industry and regulatory requirements.
Ability to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate departmental goals.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and strict deadlines.
Strong analytical and results‑oriented skills.
High standards of integrity and ethical practice.
