Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills)

Academic Qualifications

Master’s degree in any of the following: Business Administration, Social Sciences, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Electronics or related field from a recognized institution or equivalent qualifications.

A first level university degree in any of the following fields from a recognized institution; Business Administration, Social Sciences, Economics, Finance, Engineering or Electronics combined with the required work experience may be accepted in lieu of the Master’s degree.

Professional Qualifications / Membership to Professional Bodies

Undertaken a Strategic Leadership/Management course from a recognized institution.

Proficient knowledge of corporate governance, procurement laws, and current industry related issues and trends at national, regional, and international levels, including in-depth understanding of ship building in the global marketplace.

Proficiency in Computer Applications.

Previous Relevant Work Experience Required

At least fifteen (15) years’ working experience, five (5) years of which should be in a managerial position in the following areas:

Technical experience in Maritime/Marine and Military Naval Systems.

Managing maritime large projects of not less than KSh 6 billion.

Experience in the management of shipyards and/or directing ship construction at a managerial level.

Experience in the Disciplined Services at managerial/senior command of at least 15 years is desirable
