  • The Kenya School of Law is a public legal education provider responsible for the provision of professional legal training as an agent of the Government.
  • The core functions of the School are set out in Section 4 of the Kenya School of Law Act, 2012.

    REF: KSL/HR02/2022 1 Position
  • Reporting to the Assistant Director, Research and Projects, the incumbent is responsible for carrying out research on continuing legal education and various emerging legal issues to meet the statutory mandate of School.
    The Specific Duties and Responsibilities Will Entail: –
  • Assisting in the development of the research agenda;
  • Managing and independently conducting a specific programme of research
  • Disseminating the outcomes of the research in appropriate national and international peer-reviewed Academic publications, conferences, policy forums, etc;
  • Taking a leading role in the further development of the research programme;
  • Submitting research bids and proposals that will enhance the research function of School;
  • Mentoring, supervising and assisting junior researchers;
  • Seeking and pursuing appropriate external funding for research;
  • Taking responsibility for, managing and conducting administrative and management tasks associated with specific programmes of research;
  • Playing an active role in knowledge and technology transfer activities;
  • Managing specific research grants in accordance with Financial Regulations and the conditions of the funding body;
  • Seeking new areas of research, preparing and submitting research bids and proposals that will enhance the research function of the School; and
  • Participating in and collaborating with other functions of the school work as required, including representing the School in various forums.


    Job Requirements
  • To qualify for this position, the applicant must have: –

  • At least eight (8) years’ relevant work experience three (3) of which should be in a supervisory role;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Research Applications, Mathematics,
    Statistics & Economics, Law (LL. B) or its equivalent from a recognized university;
  • Master’s Degree in Research Applications, Mathematics, Statistics & Economics, Law (LL.M) or its equivalent from a recognized university;
  • A relevant professional qualification;
  • Member of a recognized professional body in good standing;
  • Attended at least a management course lasting four (4) weeks will be an added advantage;
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution; and
  • Proficiency in Computer Applications.
