Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing implementation of activities and or actions on matters pertaining to Communication and Media management through frequent strategic meetings, forums and discussions to enhance the Company’s image, visibility and reputation;

  • Coordinating implementation of the New KPCU’s Communications Strategy through participation and engagement of various relevant stakeholders to enhance effective communication;

  • Coordinating development and implementation of the visibility and publicity targets in line with the Company’s goals and objectives through participation and engagement of various relevant stakeholders to enhance positive visibility and reputation;

  • Overseeing the monitoring of content generation by writing, editing accurate, informative and appropriate content about the New KPCU services and products for the company website and Social Media Platforms for information dissemination and enhance the image, visibility and reputation;

  • Coordinating corporate events such as media briefings, seminars and conferences, End Year parties, trade fairs and exhibitions by planning and implementation of activities to ensure positive image and reputation of the company;

  • Coordinating the development and review of all institutional newsletters, briefs, speeches, newspaper articles, supplements and conference abstract books ensuring quality and that they capture ongoing activities for dissemination to internal and external publics;

  • Coordinating official visits in the company, outreaches and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities that contribute in the promotion of New KPCU positive image and reputation.

  • Guiding preparation of publication materials;

  • Overseeing drafting of information, education and communication materials;

  • Guiding on preparation of organizational documents such as annual reports, corporate profiles, speeches, visual aids, public presentations and submissions; and

  • Liaising with departments to generate content material for dissemination;

  • Managing information in the media and public space to minimize potential damage to the reputation of the company among all stakeholders

  • Developing and review all company newsletters, briefs, speeches, newspaper articles, supplements and conference abstract books ensuring quality and that they capture on-going activities for dissemination to internal and external publics;

  • Developing work plans, budgets and procurement plans to ensure the strategic objectives are adequately resourced;

  • Appraising members of staff under supervision to enable them meet company mandates and set targets;

  • Developing and maintaining the company’s web presence online and on social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter and supervise its appropriate usage;

  • Designing, developing and implementing corporate communication
    policies, strategies and programs with guidance from senior officer;

  • Participating in the development and management of information, education and communication materials;

  • Participating in provision of media liaison services;

  • Attending and participating in annual exhibitions with consultation with other departments;

  • Directing production of visual, audio and electronic material, including managing social media updates;

  • Conducting corporate communication research and surveys;

  • Implementing corporate social responsibility programs and projects;

  • Monitoring and evaluating public opinion regarding the company and its programmes to mitigate against negative publicity and manage reputation risk;

  • Preparing press releases, statements, keynote speeches, television and radio interviews and corporate branding; and

  • Arranging interviews with journalists, preparing and distributing media releases and liaising with managing director to make statements to the media.

    Requirements

  • A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience, at least three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory role;

  • Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communications, Communication Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines: Mass Communications, Public Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Certificate in Management Couse lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

  • Registered with a relevant professional body where applicable;

  • Proficiency in Computer application skills;

  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and

  • Fulfilled the provisions of Chapter six of the Constitution.

  • An applicant with at least three (3) years working experience in similar position will have an added advantage
