Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the Identification of potential areas to source coffee for milling;

  • Creating and maintaining network outreach with farmers for sustainable sourcing of coffee for milling and/or marketing purposes;

  • Identifying gaps and bottlenecks in the coffee farming in their area of operation and share with management for action;

  • Preparing field reports;

  • Coordinating Liaison with estate farmers and cooperative societies for the purpose of entering into milling and/or marketing agency agreements;

  • Validating coffee production projections data for purposes of planning for milling, warehousing, marketing and provision of advances;

  • Validating and developing strategies based on the projections on coffee production.

  • Prepare coffee projection within the assigned areas;

  • Coordinating forums to create awareness/sensitize coffee growers on coffee production, milling, marketing and provision of Advances;

  • Organizing and Sensitizing farmers on coffee production, milling, marketing and provision of advances;

  • Attending and responding to farmers inquiries during cooperative societies annual general meetings;

  • Developing and reviewing information materials for sensitization of farmers;

  • Providing advice to farmers on best coffee farming practices;

  • Approving coffee farmers training needs on request for capacity building;

  • Coordinating awareness programmes and sensitizing coffee growers on accessibility of Coffee Cherry Advance Revolving fund;

  • Reviewing designs and budgets requirements for establishment of demonstration farms, clonal gardens and coffee nurseries;

  • Liaising with the Supply Chain department for procurement of certified coffee seeds; and

  • Reviewing and make recommendations coffee seedlings reports.

    Requirements

  • A minimum
    period of eight (8) years relevant work experience, at least three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory role;

  • Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Agribusiness, Agronomy, Agriculture, Marketing or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Agribusiness, Agronomy, Agriculture, Marketing or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Membership with relevant professional body where applicable;

  • Certificate in a Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

  • Proficiency in Computer applications;

  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and

  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

  • Applicants with an indepth understanding in the coffee value chain and agronomy will have an added advantage
