Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning, coordinating and supervising areas of control;

  • Participating in setting targets for the department;

  • Undertaking adhoc assignments relating to accounting services;

  • Preparing final accounts;

  • Ensuring safe custody of Company’s financial records;

  • Responsible for authorizing payments and signing of cheques subject to set limits;

  • Preparing timely and accurate financial reports;

  • Interpreting accounting information to facilitate decision making;

  • Carrying out variance analysis and advising management;

  • Designing and implementing effective accounting systems;

  • Maintaining book of debtors, debt accounts and monitoring payments;

  • Managing accounting information including coordination and rationalization of estimates, annual appropriation and fund accounts, cash flow control and cost analysis;

  • Overseeing farmers payments, dispatch of payment advise and reconciliation of farmers statements of account; and

  • Preparing management financial reports including monthly expenditure, returns, monthly bank reconciliation statements and Revenue/AIA returns, cash flow statements and deposits analysis.

    Requirements

  • A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience, at least three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory role;

  • Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: - Commerce (Accounting Option), Business Administration (Accounting Option), Business Management (Accounting or Finance Option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Masters degree in any of the following disciplines: -
    Commerce (Accounting Option), Business Administration (Accounting Option), Business Management (Accounting Option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA K) by Kenya Accountants and Secretaries Examination Board (KASNEB) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

  • Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK);

  • Certificate in Management lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

  • Proficiency in computer applications;

  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results; and

  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
