Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company Legal Officer Jobs;Responsible for providing effective legal services to the company, including contract preparation and review, security perfection, litigation support, legal advisory services, and support on board secretarial functions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Roles
Prepare agreements, legal documents, and contractual documents in a timely manner
Ensure proper perfection of securities and maintenance of collaterals
Vet property legal reports and advise on stamp duties, registration, and due diligence
Support Company Secretary in board functions (papers, logs, correspondence)
Maintain safe custody of confidential physical and electronic records
Review and resolve complaints/claims on collateral, loan agreements, and disputes
Draft and review contracts, SLAs, MoUs, leases, and legal documents for compliance
Follow up on renewals or termination of agreements
Liaise with external lawyers on assigned tasks
Provide legal and corporate advisory opinions to the company
Coordinate Legal & Compliance Audits and reviews
Advise on legal and regulatory frameworks for company mandate implementation
Identify, assess, and monitor legal risks
Manage litigation and review progress of outstanding cases
Provide legal information, training, and disseminate requirements to staff
Other Responsibilities
Perform any other duties as assigned

Monitoring compliance with statutory obligations
Management of contractual risks
Implementation of quality control standards
Continuous improvement of departmental services
Effective application of guidelines, rules, and regulations
Efficient coordination of meetings and filing systems
Customer satisfaction for departmental services
Knowledge & Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution
Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies (Council of Legal Education, Kenya)
Membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) with valid practicing certificate
Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
Minimum 3 years’ professional experience in legal practice
CPS(K) certification and ICPSK membership (advantage)
Knowledge of conveyancing, financial sector securities, and regulatory requirements
Strong planning, organizational, and evaluation skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines
Analytical, result‑oriented, and ethical
Effective communicator for internal and external matters
Proficiency in MS Office packagesPurpose of the Job
