Job Summary
Manage research data systems and processes by supporting database development, data quality assurance, analysis planning and reporting activities for clinical and health research studies.
Ensure the integrity, accuracy, security and regulatory compliance of study data while providing technical support for data management, analysis and reporting requirements.
Support achievement of research objectives through effective data governance, statistical analysis support and collaboration with multidisciplinary research teams.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management Planning & Database Development
Contribute to the development of study data management plans and statistical analysis plans.
Support the design, development and maintenance of research databases.
Ensure data management systems adequately support study requirements and research protocols.
Recommend improvements to data collection and management processes.
Data Quality Management & Validation
Oversee data entry activities and ensure completeness and accuracy of research data.
Conduct routine data quality checks and verification procedures.
Identify, investigate and resolve data queries, discrepancies and inconsistencies.
Monitor missing data and implement corrective actions to improve data quality.
Verify data accuracy, validity and integrity throughout the research lifecycle.
Research Data Monitoring & Reporting
Generate routine and ad hoc reports for study investigators, project teams and oversight committees.
Prepare progress reports and data summaries for Data Monitoring Committees and Steering Committees.
Support preparation of data outputs for publications and dissemination activities.
Ensure reporting timelines and study milestones are achieved.
Data Analysis Support
Support production of summary tables, charts and graphics for interim and final analyses.
Assist with data cleaning, transformation and preparation for statistical analysis.
Collaborate with investigators and statisticians in interpreting study findings.
Contribute to presentation and communication of research results.
Stakeholder Coordination & Collaboration
Liaise with study investigators, data managers, programmers and data clerks regarding data quality and management issues.
Provide technical guidance on data-related processes and quality assurance practices.
Collaborate with internal and external research partners to support project objectives.
Coordinate activities necessary to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
Data Security, Documentation & Compliance
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations, ethical standards and study protocols.
Prepare and archive research data and supporting documentation for future curation and retrieval.
Maintain data confidentiality, integrity and secure storage processes.
Ensure adherence to research data governance requirements and quality standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field from a recognized university.
Knowledge of clinical trial data management and database development for clinical research studies is mandatory.
Additional training in research data management, biostatistics or database systems is an added advantage.
Experience
Experience in management of clinical research data and related databases.
Minimum one (1) year experience in data processing, management or analysis within a health or medical research environment is an added advantage.
Experience supporting clinical trials, health research studies or public health programmes is desirable.
Experience working within multidisciplinary research teams is beneficial.
