Kenya Institute of Special Education Assistant Director Assessment and Outreach Jobs in Kenya

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the training of functional assessment officers and teaching of functional assessment subjects.

  • Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good citizenship within the Division.

  • Lead in the implementation of quality management system and risk management strategies with regard to sound financial management system within the Division.

  • Coordinate the assessment of children with special needs and disabilities.

  • Refer children assessed to service provision points.

  • Guide on the placement of children with special needs and disabilities in educational programmes.

  • Initiate functional assessment training for assessment staff.

  • Monitor identification and placement of children with special needs and disabilities in schools and institutions.

  • Coordinate awareness creation, sensitize and capacity‑build teachers, parents and other stakeholders dealing with children with special needs and disabilities.

  • Coordinate community outreach services to create sensitization awareness on disabilities.

  • Spearhead the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of a robust performance management system within the Division by providing oversight of the delivery of the annual performance contract and the strategic plan.

    Qualifications / Work Experience

  • Professional cumulative service period of twelve (12) years’ relevant work experience, three (3) of which
    should be at the grade of Principal Assessor or in a comparable position.

  • Academic Bachelor’s Degree in Education in the area of Special Needs or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.

  • Academic Master’s Degree in Education in the area of Special Needs or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution or any other equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized Institution.

  • Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing.

  • Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution.
