Kenya High Commission in London Security Officer for the Chancery Jobs


The Security Officer at the Chancery shall under the direction, control and guidance of the Officer in charge of Security and the Head of Chancery perform the following duties and responsibilities:-

• Daily co-ordination of security matters of the Mission under the guidance of Officer in-charge of Security at the Mission, Head of Chancery and High Commissioner.

• Conducting regular patrols of the Chancery daily to ensure the security of the premises and members of staff.

• Maintaining Access Control of visitors into the Chancery as well as ensuring no access by unauthorised persons to restricted areas of the Mission.

• Monitoring of security system (CCTV) and equipment at the Chancery and High Commissioner’s Residence and reporting of any malfunctions and noted suspicious activities.

• Monitoring and maintaining records (OB) of all daily occurrence and reporting the same to the immediate Supervisor or Head of Chancery.

• Maintaining up-to-date daily records of all Members of Staff who are in and out of office.

• Keeping up-to-date daily records of all visitors coming into the Chancery.

• Maintaining records of all security systems, devices and equipment and notifying on their due date for repairs, servicing and maintenance.

• Assisting the Officer in charge of Security in contacting the Diplomatic Protection Group (DPG) on matters relating to the Emergency Alarm at the Chancery.

• Ensuring proper functioning of all Emergency Exits at the Chancery.

• Monitoring and reporting on any acts of breaches of security at the Chancery.

• Advising the Mission on matters of health and safety as well as available sensitization opportunities to the Mission on security policy and procedures in the UK.

• Coordinate the opening and closing of
the Mission as well as ensuring safe custody of relevant keys to the various offices at the Chancery.

• Hoisting and lowering of official Flags at the Chancery as well as coordinating their cleaning.

Skills & Proficiencies

• Written and Verbal Communication

• Interpersonal Skills

• Knowledge of Security Operations and Procedure

• Knowledge of Basic Security and Fire Inspection Procedures, Surveillance, Skills, Judgment, Objectivity, Dependability, Integrity, Safety Management, Professionalism and reporting skills.

Qualification/Requirements

• KCSE certificate or GSCE certificate or equivalent

• On-the job training or service in the discipline forces

• Three (3) year experience

• Recommendation for exemplary work performance
