Kenya Forest Service Principal Geographic Information System (GIS) Officer Jobs


Entry Requirements

  • Nine (9) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which at the grade of Senior GIS Officer or comparable position

  • Degree in Geospatial Information Systems or equivalent from a recognized institution

  • Membership to a relevant professional body

  • Certificate in senior management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution

  • Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office, CAD, ArcGIS, and Quantum GIS

    Additional Information

  • Provide leadership in Geographic Information System (GIS) services

  • Develop and implement policies and strategies for GIS operations

  • Coordinate production of forest sector base maps, atlases, and map series

  • Manage GIS resources, staff, and equipment

  • Advise management on GIS and innovations

  • Liaise with national and international institutions on GIS matters

  • Review and approve GIS outputs and dissemination

  • Prepare policy briefs, technical papers, and reports on GIS

  • Promote research and adoption of new GIS technologies

  • Promote public values and principles in Public Service

  • Mentor and coach staff to enhance professional growth and performance
