Kenya Community Development Foundation Accountant Jobs in Kenya; The Accountant supports KCDF and its related entities in the verification and timely processing of transactions and payments, including the generation of periodic reports providing a record of all financial activities.
This role additionally supports the finance department in grant management, funder reporting, audit and various financial activities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Financial, Property & Endowment Fund Accounting
Maintain accurate accounting records and process transactions in compliance with IFRS and internal policies.
Manage general ledger accounts, fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules and property accounting records.
Monitor rental income, deposits, arrears and property expenses, ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with property managers for accurate reporting.
Maintain endowment fund records, ownership registers and contribution schedules.
Record investment income, expenses, payouts and process drawdowns.
Reconcile contributions and coordinate with custodians and administrators.
Perform bank, ledger, investment and rent collection reconciliations.
Validate payment requests against budgets, policies and donor guidelines.
Financial Management
Manage petty cash funds within set limits.
Assist with month‑end closing procedures and reconciliations.
Reconcile accounts ledger to ensure accuracy.
Assist in preparation for audits, including documentation and data collection.
Archive financial documents per retention policy.
Grants Management & Compliance
Compile financial reports for funders aligned with donor policies.
Participate in budget development for projects and grants.
Review grantee financial reports for compliance.
Provide guidance and training to grantees on financial reporting.
Conduct site
visits to verify compliance and assess progress.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Working Relationships
Internal: Programs team, Logistics, Partnerships & Resource Development.
External: Partners, Funders, Fund Builders.
Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
CPA (K).
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
Competencies
Proficiency in accounting principles and IFRS.
Familiarity with accounting software (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred).
Understanding of donor‑specific reporting requirements.
Strong skills in budget creation, analysis and monitoring.
Knowledge of auditing processes and statutory returns.
Understanding of grant accounting and compliance.
Analytical skills to identify financial trends and insights.
Ability to explain financial concepts to non‑finance staff.
Effective prioritization and organization of tasks.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
High ethical standards and adherence to regulations.
Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
