Job Purpose Statement
  • Reporting to the Head of Procurement
    , the role holder will ensure management and control of the company facilities while supporting the company’s business operations.
  • He/she will be required to develop and implement a planned maintenance program with monitoring, reporting defect, cause, effect and corrective action for all facilities.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Ensure all processes and compliance programs are met.
  • Prepare cost estimates for moves and equipment.
  • Manage maintenance of grounds.
  • Coordinate building security and maintenance services.
  • Manage and supervise all facilities personnel.
  • Allocate workload and supervise upkeep staff (custodians, janitors etc.)
  • Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary.
  • Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and service provider.
  • Develop and implement a planned maintenance program with monitoring, reporting defect, cause, effect and corrective action for all facilities.
  • Ensure efficiency of all building systems.
    Coordinate site safety programs.
  • Plan building maintenance and operational programs.
  • Oversee all building functions.
  • Coordinate with department heads and building contractors.
  • Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.
  • Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues.
  • Check electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality.
  • Plan and oversee all repair and maintenance of office facilities.
  • Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities.
  • Ensure that all emergency and unplanned maintenance calls are attended to in record shortest time and cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinate all maintenance issues and schedules.
  • Manage facilities planning.
  • Coordinate facilities maintenance budgeting at budget time for internal users.
  • Facilitate all maintenance matters with internal users within Kenya and across networks on facilities maintenance.
  • Ensure health and safety policies are compliance in accordance with relevant industry and legislative requirements for persons occupying
  • Kenya Airways Premises.
  • Ensure that all premises are suitable and conducive for occupation as per relevant Government Regulations.
  • Prepare and file reports with government
    and regulatory authorities including environmental permits.
  • Ensure all utility systems are inspected and in accordance with regulations.
  • Maintain a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Ensure conformity with all regulatory requirements, organization standards and local procedures as well as requirements of customer airlines.
  • Ensure the provision of cost-effective maintenance services to the premises and utilities in all Kenya Airways facilities.
  • Ensure suitably qualified/experienced /competent staff at all levels with appropriate skills are recruited/retained and developed.
  • Negotiate bids and contracts for third party workers.
  • Manage and supervise all facilities personnel.
    Manage all vendor contracts.
  • Prepare budgets and financial reports and manage and monitor budgets.
  • Prepare and implement cost saving measures.

    Qualifications
  • Civil Engineering degree or equivalent in construction or property maintenance, property administration.
  • At least 7-10 years’ experience in facilities management in a corporate environment.
  • Contract administration skills and knowledge.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Conversant with the provision of the new Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Knowledgeable in the environmental and building regulatory laws.
  • Experience in Real Estate management is an added advantage.
  • Experience in planning maintenance operations.
  • Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems etc.
  • Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment.
  • Ability to keep track of and report on activity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
