Job Summary

  • Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate & Regulatory Services, the job holder is responsible for enhancing the brand image, overseeing the implementation of both internal and external communication strategies and acting as a liaison between the organization, the public and the media to promote the organization's brand, activities, and product.

    Duties and responsibilities

  • Executing the corporate communication and marketing plan for the organization

  • Managing, writing, and editing internal and external communications and ensuring consistency and accuracy.

  • Serving as the brand ambasador for the organization and create brand-aligned communication materials.

  • Creating digital content across the organization platforms to increase corporate awareness.

  • Preparing speeches for Board Directors and the Executives when required.

  • Branding of corporate events, leading work on the design, content and production of corporate flyers and brochures targeting external stakeholders.

  • Sourcing and preparing articles and images from within and outside the Company.

  • Monitoring, managing media coverage and developing relationship with key journalists and editors in organizing press conferences, media events and enhancing brand exposure.

  • Participating in the annual Energy Journalism Excellence Awards and organizing media networking events, interviews, and familiarization tours.

  • Liaising with the consultant PR Company to ensure that the Company’s communication to stakeholders enhances the brand.

  • Building a
    strong customer base and promoting customer service culture within the organization.

  • Coordinating crisis communication to safeguard the Company’s reputation.

  • Facilitating, monitoring and absorption of budget for the Division

  • Participating in procurement processes.

  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing staff using relevant human resource tools.

    Person Specifications

  • Minimum twelve (12) years relevant work experience, five (5) of which must have been at a senior management position in a large organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications / Public Relations / Journalism or its equivalent from a recognized institution

  • Master’s degree in Communication/ Public Relations/Journalism or its equivalent from a recognized institution.

  • Diploma in Communications / Public Relations / Journalism from a recognized institution
    Membership with the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).
