Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of the selected candidate will entail:

  • Advising management on policies and strategies relating to Scheme Development, Training, Capacity Building, Marketing Communication and Advocacy;

  • Developing programmes that nurture relations and cooperation with regional, international accreditation bodies, persons, associations, and organizations in the promotion of accreditation;

  • Ensuring the development of guidelines and criteria for accreditation of new schemes;

  • Piloting of new schemes developed;

  • Liaising with regulators, development partners and relevant stakeholders in developing and operationalizing schemes that are fit for the economy and that are a strategic fit for the region and in a global context;

  • Coordinating the generation of project proposals on scheme development and capacity building;

  • Ensuring the organization of events, activities and forums for promoting accreditation in Kenya, the region and globally and the use of accreditation marks;

  • Ensuring the organization of events and exhibitions, publications, website content, social media, media, to promote awareness of KENAS accreditation and its equivalence under the mutual recognition arrangement;

  • Ensuring the organization of events and exhibitions, publications, website content, social media, media, to promoting recognition of accredited bodies by users of conformity assessment;

  • Liaising with other departments to identify the training gaps and offer training for trainers, Assessors and technical experts;

  • Overseeing the process of conformity assessment training and other related training;

  • Carrying out advocacy and education campaigns;
    Enhancing KENAS visibility through education, sensitization programs, billboards, advertising, publicity and marketing activities;

  • Coordinating corporate social responsibility activities;

  • Developing communication and branding strategy;

  • Liaising with the media to enhance corporate image;

  • Organizing stakeholder’s forums and meetings; and

  • Crisis Communication Management.

    Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • At least ten (10) years working experience in the public or private sector; five (5) of which must have been a management role;

  • Bachelors Degree in Education, Human Resources, Commerce, Sciences, Strategic Management, Business Management, Marketing, International Business, International Relations or any other relevant discipline;

  • Masters Degree in Education, Human Resources, Commerce, Sciences, Strategic Management, Business Management, Marketing, International Business, International Relations or any other relevant discipline;

  • Professional qualification and membership in good standing where applicable;

  • Management course lasting not less than four
    (4) weeks from a recognized institution;

  • Demonstrated results in work experience;

  • Proficiency in computer applications;

  • Fulfil the requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution.

  • Certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)

  • Tax Compliance Certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)

  • Clearance Certificate from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)

  • Clearance from Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)

  • Clearance Certificate from a Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
