Job Purpose

Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for coordinate forecasting and supply planning, receipt, storage, inventory management, order fulfilment, distribution, and quality
assurance of HPTs.


Scope of Work /Duties /Responsibilities
  • Providing leadership, management and effective operation of the HPT demand forecasting, supply planning, capacity planning, warehousing, distribution, and quality assurance of HPTs
  • Developing HPT supply chain strategy and processes to deliver on KEMSA’s mandate
  • Ensuring end to end visibility of the Supplier- KEMSA- health facility stores HPT supply chain
  • Ensure the HPT supply chain processes are supporting sound financial practices and operational efficiencies.
  • Developing supply chain budget with regular monitoring of actual expenditure against forecast and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinating the management of inventory assets and controls; annual count/cycle counting
  • Coordinating HPT demand forecasting, supply planning, warehousing, distribution, and HPT quality assurance operations
  • Ensuring warehouse, distribution operations are optimized to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and reliable products and services
  • Ensuring compliance with Good Distribution Practices (GDP);
  • Ensuring quality assurance and compliance of HPTs.
  • Oversee HPT market research to inform supply chain strategies, drive
    efficiencies and service delivery
  • Promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement in the directorate
  • Creating a team environment that supports transparent communication and ownership of responsibility.
  • Providing guidance and support while empowering the team to be innovative using their expertise and knowledge to make decisions.
  • Setting performance targets and monitor performance for all staff in the directorate
  • Providing career development, coaching, training and skill building for all staff in the HPT Directorate to meet both organizational and personal development goals
  • Monitoring and evaluate key performance indicators in planning, logistics, warehousing, quality assurance and compliance to ensure that customer/stakeholder requirements and supply chain metrics are met.


    Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
  • Master’s Degree in the following fields Business, Health Economics, Supply Chain Management, or any other related field from a recognized institution;
  • Current registration by the Pharmacy & Poison’s board
  • Current membership with the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya
  • Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results;
    and
  • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.


    Experience
  • A minimum period of twelve (12) years in relevant work experience and at least four (4) in a Management position in the Public Service or Private Sector;

  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills, including a strong working knowledge of PC applications (MS Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to wear many hats and pivoting quickly between strategic work and being tactical, hands-on.
  • Self-driven with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to Work Well on a Team but Be Self-Motivated and Independent at Times
  • Demonstrates a high degree of integrity combined with strong leadership abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail; high standards for quality; and excellent time management.
  • Commitment to personal growth and development.
