Program Description:

This program is collaboration between Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) whose main remit is to conduct research in Malaria, HIV, parasitology, TB and other diseases. The HIV Research Branch has a vacancy for QA Supervisor

Qualification Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health, Public Health or any relevant Social Science or relevant qualifications from a recognized institution

  • Proficient in computer applications

  • Be in possession of an ISO 15189 implementation certificate

  • Be in possession of ISO 19011 internal audit for medical laboratory officer training

  • Be in possession of method validation certificates

  • Experience in working in ISO 15189 accredited laboratory

  • Experience in handling regulatory affairs with correspondents

  • Experience in performing HIV molecular diagnosis test and the related laboratory quality
    assurance/quality control measures

    Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

    The QA supervisor responsibilities shall include and not be limited to the following:

  • Head the quality management unit in the lab and ensures continuous quality management systems implementation

  • Ensures the processes need for QMS are established, implemented and maintained

  • Promote awareness of users’ needs and requirements throughout the laboratory and HIV
    research branch

  • Ensure conformance with requirements for applicable regulatory entities (e.g. ISO 15189,
    KENAS, GCLP)

  • Perform periodic laboratory internal audits and ensure departments perform timely follow up
    of audit findings

  • Prepare and present audit findings
    and/or other related information to the stakeholders

  • Perform oversite and documentation of all laboratory trainings and competency assessments

  • Perform audit and inspection preparations.

  • Ensure procedure manuals are written, updated and approved in a timely manner

  • Maintain laboratory QA/QC procedures in the performance of assigned duties

  • Ensure that processes needed for QMS are established, implemented and maintained

  • Compile, develop, implement and revise quality management system to ensure it is up to date
    at any given time

  • Plan and carry out internal audits of the quality management system and plan for review
    process

  • Plan, conduct and facilitate quality assurance training workshops and seminars

  • Identify and address complaints, non-conformances and corrective actions

  • Schedule and organize management review meetings in consultation with the laboratory
    manager

  • Prepare quarterly quality management system reports

  • Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time by immediate supervisor.
