KEMRI Assistant Research Officer(School Engagement Programme) Jobs in Kenya




Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development, implementation and review of School Engagement Programme’s strategic and operational plans, budgets, policies and procedures that are aligned to the Project’s strategic goals and objectives

  • Participate in building and maintaining networks and collaborations with the various stakeholders such as Ministry of Education, Teachers, Health clubs, other Departments and research groups

  • Plan and conduct Primary and Junior School engagement activities that are aligned to the Project’s strategic goals and objectives. Such activities include Science literacy sessions, Science modelling competitions, career talks and mobile lab demonstrations

  • Participate in capacity building through planning and conducting stakeholder feedback sessions, evaluating Primary and Junior school learners’ activities and supporting recruitment and consenting of participants where relevant

  • Contribute to data collection by participating in the design and development of data collection tools, data collection, analysis, interpretation and disseminating the same through summaries, reports and Presentations to various Stakeholders

  • Document and monitor planned engagement activities, including student participation, feedback, and lessons learned, to inform continuous improvement and innovation in school engagement initiatives

  • Support the operations of the SEP team by assisting in day to day coordination, logistics, planning and participate in other Project HR Management activities to ensure effective delivery of the SEP goals and objectives

  • Contribute to the SEP full compliance with all relevant internal ethical and Research Governance protocols, policies and procedures by ensuring proper documentation and adherence for all research activities

    Vacancy Requirements.

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Social Sciences, Communication or any other relevant field from a recognized university — Mandatory

  • Minimum One (1) Year experience in supporting school or young people engagement activities at a reputable institution — Mandatory

  • Experience in working with students, research engagement or early-career science teaching, including developing teaching/learning aids — Mandatory

  • Demonstrated high levels of integrity and confidentiality — Mandatory

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills — Mandatory

  • Ability to work with diverse, multidisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with internal and external collaborators — Mandatory

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to deliver quality outputs within strict timelines — Mandatory

  • Flexibility, adaptability, multi-tasking and attention to detail — Mandatory
