Kelele Africa is a non profit organization established in 2012 that promotes development projects in Kabarole district (Uganda).

Among the projects that we have, we have built our own school (Kumwenya School) that is changing the lives of children in our community.

Job Title: Teacher - Primary Formal Education

Location: Kimya - Uganda

Type of Assignment: International Development Worker

Duration: 3 Months (may be extended to 12 months*)

Expected Starting Date: October 1st

Job Brief:

We are looking for an experienced teacher to join our school team!. If you love teaching kids, adventure and finding out about new cultures and if you have experience teaching English with the phonics method this might be your opportunity!

Your main goal will be to create a supportive learning environment which will help your students meet their learning goals. Through the phonetics method, basic calculation or number sequence, you’ll teach them the basic knowledge required for their course.

You will be working exclusively with students between 6 and 12 years ( Primary 1 to 4 ) that are having problems of different consideration with reading, writing and basic math.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare materials and activities

  • English classes applying the phonetic method

  • Math classes for primary one and two

  • Numeric sequence applied to the learning progress

  • Identify students with special requirements and give special support to them

  • Collaborate with teaching staff and administrators to foster a good student experience

    Requirements

  • Previous experience using the Phonics method

  • Good organizational and communication skills

  • Experience helping slow learners

  • A patient and resilient personality

  • Dedication to students and education

    Conditions of Service: The organization will pay for the food and accommodation and a Round trip ticket from country of origin.

    The volunteer will have to pay for his/her vaccines, visa , travel insurance and personal expenses.
