KCB Bank Kenya Head - Economic & Market Research Jobs

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Set strategic direction for the research department, aligning outputs with organizational objectives and customer needs.

Embed research into business planning cycles such as annual budgeting and quarterly product reviews.

Lead development and maintenance of econometric models to forecast GDP, inflation, interest rates, and foreign exchange.

Build intelligence services to monitor consumer health metrics, business financial frameworks, and emerging market trends.

Direct deep‑dive research into priority sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and energy to identify risks and opportunities.

Develop scenario planning narratives to prepare business leaders for volatility.

Provide research and risk assessments to ALCO, Credit Committees, and Global Markets through simulation models.

Tailor research outputs for different audiences including Executive Management, Retail Banking, and Corporate Banking teams.

Act as a public spokesperson, engaging with media, policy think tanks, and international bodies (IMF, World Bank).

Collaborate across diverse functions and subsidiaries to support institutional and retail investor audiences.

Minimum Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Financial Economics from a recognized university.

Professional qualifications in financial or statistical analysis are

an added advantage.

Master’s degree in Economics is an added advantage.

At least 8 years’ relevant work experience in economic research and macroeconomic analysis.

Minimum 6 years of progressive people management and leadership experience.

Experience in company and macro modelling, including valuation methodologies.

Proven record of presenting at Economic Fora or advocacy engagements.

Strong stakeholder management experience.

Added advantage: experience in market and consumer intelligence analytics; proficiency in econometric/statistical software (STATA, R, Python, Power BI, Tableau).
