KCA University Locum Laboratory Technologist Job in Kenya

KCAU seeks to recruit a highly motivated and innovative candidate to fill the following position; Laboratory Technologist


Job Objective: The University Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for the provision and management of laboratory services at the medical clinic.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • To collect blood and other samples from patients, conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood and urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases, records and keep records.
  • Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices.
  • To prepare solutions, reagents and stains in accordance with standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
  • He/ she will be expected to operate basic laboratory equipment such as microscope, analytical balance and PH meter.
  • The officer will maintain and make minor adjustments to equipment e.g. calibration and alignment.
  • Maintenance of local laboratory stock control records.
  • Prioritize samples according to urgency.
  • He/she shall comply with all relevant safety and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Set up, adjust, maintain and clean medical laboratory equipment.
  • Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications, using special mechanical and electrical devices.
  • Assist in the reception area to login students, manage their files
    and work hand in hand with the nurse in the controlling of students flow.


    Qualifications and Experience

    The candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution
  • Excellent knowledge of laboratory operations and procedures.
  • MUST be able to carry out Laboratory Tests
  • Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technicians Board.
  • Minimum 0ne year experience.


    Other Skills and Competences

  • Excellent computer skills and ability to work with minimum supervision
