  • Katalemwa Cheshire Home (KCH) is a development non-governmental organization in Uganda involved in the rehabilitation process of children with disabilities and fulfillment of their rights in Uganda since 1970.

  • KCH‘s programs focus on disability medical and social rehabilitation, gender mainstreaming.

  • provision of assistive devices, promotion of quality inclusive education and livelihood programs to enable children and youth with disabilities live independent and meaningful lives.

  • Each year KCH serves over 15.000 children and youth with disabilities through their various programs.

  • Applications are invited from suitably qualified competent and dynamic individual to fill the following position:

    Key Responsibilities

  • Support all internal and external HR related inquiries or requests, maintain digital and electronic records of employees, assist with the recruitment process by notifying candidates and schedule interviews, sit on the Interview panel, performing reference checks and prepare interview reports.

  • Issue employment contracts, oversee the completion of compensation and benefit documentation, resolve any payroll errors, assist with performance management procedures, draw up HR development staff development plan and upon approval, cause implementation, maintain calendars of HR management team, schedule meetings, HR events and maintain agendas, Coordinate training sessions and seminars, perform orientations and update records of new staff, produce and submit reports on general HR activity, manage staff grievances, procedures, complaints and processes.

  • Oversee whistle blowers’ processes, complete termination paperwork and exit interviews, keep upto-date with the latest HR trends and best practice and serve as point of contact with benefit vendors and administrators.

    Relevant educational requirements and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related (essential, 2 years
    of experience as an HR Officer (essential), exposure to Labor Law and employment equity regulations, effective HR administration and people management skills.

  • Exposure to payroll practices, full understanding of HR functions and best practice, excellent written and verbal communication skills, works well under pressure and meets tight deadline, highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related business and communication tools, exceptional organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail and ability to accurately follow instructions.
