Kakenya’s Dream Nurse Jobs in Kenya;The Nurse is responsible for receiving patients, retrieving and reviewing medical records, taking and recording vital signs, and conducting initial assessments to determine the appropriate level of medical attention required. The Nurse directs patients to the appropriate healthcare provider or service based on their needs.
Responsibilities
Perform triage duties; take vital signs accurately, record, and refer patients for treatment or intervention
Receive patients after registration, examine, and assess with priority to severely sick or injured cases
Update patient files and records accurately while maintaining confidentiality
Ensure emergency tray and medical supplies are available at all service delivery points
Deliver both MCH and youth‑friendly services effectively
Prepare and submit periodic medical reports on time
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of admission/triage area; uphold infection control and safety policies
Report unusual clinical or non‑clinical findings/incidents promptly to Supervisor and KHWC Administrator
Ensure cost‑effective use of resources; document consumables for billing and stock management
Care for equipment through proper cleaning, storage, inventory checks, and reporting non‑functional items
Develop written care plans based on patient needs; monitor and evaluate interventions
Participate in continuous medical education (CMEs) with the team
Administer medication safely; monitor patient responses and report adverse reactions
Uphold infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and waste management guidelines
Provide patient and youth education; conduct primary health care programs to promote healthy living
Deliver health talks to patients and Kakenya
students
Participate in outreach activities as assigned
Perform minor medical procedures (wound dressing, stitching, nebulization, etc.)
Conduct instrument processing and sterilization of medical equipment
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Requirements
Education
Diploma/Degree in Community Health Nursing from a recognized institution
Professional
Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya
Diploma in Counseling (advantageous)
Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience
Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in a busy health facility
Experience in youth‑friendly facility (advantageous)
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of nursing, medical care, and counseling standards
Good interpersonal and communication skills (English and Kiswahili)
Evidence‑based knowledge of current outpatient nursing practices
Ability to multi‑task, pay attention to detail, and report accurately
Compassionate, disciplined, honest, and community‑oriented
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Basic computer literacy
Flexibility to work long hours, late evenings, emergencies, and weekends
