Kajiado County Government Principal Internal Auditor Jobs in Kenya


Introduction

The Kajiado County Assembly Service Board invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Principal Internal Auditor Scope of the office:

Responsibilities:

  • Planning. organizing, directing, coordinating and controlling of internal audit services within the County Assembly.
  • Establishing the risk based audit plans consistent with the Audit Board's objectives.
  • Communicating plans of engagement and resource requirements for the internal audit function.
  • Evaluating risk exposure relating to achievement of the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Evaluating the reliability and integrity of information and the means used to identify measure, classify, and report such information.
  • Evaluating operations or programs to ascertain whether results are consistent with established objectives and goals and whether the operations or programs are being carried out as planned.
  • Playing a key role in maintaining a strong control environment and supporting initiatives that improve performance.
  • Perform financial, operational and information systems audit.
  • Attending meetings with auditees to develop an understanding of business processes;
  • Providing ad hoc advice and guidance to managers and staff at all levels, sometimes by delivering courses and training sessions;
  • Performing risk assessments on key business activities and using this information to guide on the effectiveness of the organization's risk management processes;
  • Anticipating emerging issues through research and interviews and deciding how best to deal with them;
  • Evaluating the quality of performance of external auditors and the degree of coordination with internal audit;
  • Performing consulting and advisory services related to governance, risk management and control as appropriate for the organization.
  • Agreeing recommendations with relevant staff
    members to make improvements to operations and helping to secure backing for them in meetings;
  • Evaluating the systems established to ensure compliance with those policies, plans, procedures, laws, and regulations which could have a significant impact on the organization;
  • Evaluating the means of safeguarding assets and, as appropriate, verifying the existence of such assets.
  • Reporting significant risk exposures and control issues, including fraud risks, governance issues, and other matters needed or requested by the Board.
  • Evaluating specific operations at the request of the Board or management, as appropriate.

    Qualifications

  • Be a Kenyan citizen.
  • At least a bachelor's degree (Accounting or Finance option).
  • Possess CPA (K) or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Be a registered member of ICPAK or Institute of Internal Auditors.
  • Have at least five (5) years practical working experience in Auditing and in a well-established organization.
  • Experience in auditing public sector will be an added advantage.
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitut
