Job Description

Role Background

Juniper Glass is a USD 100 Million investment in Debre Birhan. On full production we shall produce 60,000 tons of glass, or approximately 200 Million pieces of bottles, and this will be direct import substitution and saving the country huge amount of foreign currency.

Our strategy is to use as much local raw materials as possible however in the process of glass making there are some raw material that are not available locally and these we have to import.

These are Soda Ash, Alumnium Oxide, Red Iron Oxide, Anthracite Coal, Sodium Sulphate, Shrink Wraps Materials, Straps and other production Consumables. We also import glass making moulds that again are not locally available.

We shall be serving all the top big glass users in Ethiopia and have plans to start exports business.

The role will be required to manage the often complex import procedures into Ethiopia and as well as managing the local logistics from local suppliers as well as bottle deliver to our customers.

The role will work closely with the key management team in Juniper as well as functional heads in Consol Group Procurement.

Key Accountabilities:

Management of all imported goods.

Management of logics for imported goods, local raw materials and Finished goods.

Maintain strong relationship with our business partners and ensuring seamless delivery all inbound logistic.

Maintain relationship with all the customers by ensuring that agreed deliver scheduled for bottles are met.

Management of all customs issues to ensure
Managing a team both in Addis and Debre Birhan to attain the above objectives.

Role Complexities

Very bureaucratic import regime that leads to delays in getting goods into the country and from ports of entry.

Lack of developed logistics partners making delivery of goods unreliable.

Lack of prompt reporting of issues that could lead to delays in delivery of materials


Job Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related
At least 10 years’ experience in Logistics, Imports and related field.

In-depth knowledge of import procedures, customs laws in Ethiopia
