Key Purpose To conduct and implement technical tests technique’s (using platforms, tools, custom tools or via manual execution) to ensure end product meets stakeholder's requirements ensuring JSE systems are reliable, secure and stable.
Job description
Provide required input into the formalization for the divisional budget
Plan and co-ordinate testing projects against set test schedules by determining timelines and assigning resources, to ensure compliance of applications and minimize risk of system failures across a broad spectrum of JSE applications prior to applications going into production
Apply cost effectiveness principles in planning and delivery to contribute to achievement of divisional financial targets
Ensure timeous reporting to relevant parties should a release be delayed together with a projected timeline release date to prevent any losses due to delays in testing of applications"
Stakeholder Relationship Management
Build strategic JSE / Industry/ Global network of thought leaders and relationships utilising social media, attending and presenting at conferences and training interventions.
Promote range of services offered internally and engage with other IT specialists i.e. developers to ensure quality of services and products are delivered to support JSE business landscape
Keep abreast of vendor offerings by attending training sessions, information sharing groups to ensure latest technologies are deployed and available for testing within JSE environment"
Process Management
Conduct various tests by working through all stages of the software development life-cycle from requirements, development, test and deployment using Agile, Rational Application Developer (RAD) and waterfall methods
Analyse performance test run results statistics to discover, isolate, report and provide input to resolve performance bottlenecks
Conduct various risk assessments and provide input into the sustainability of applications such as performance space requirements and make recommendations to the Enterprise Architects/business owners to alleviate risks to the JSE systems
Create performance testing scripts to measure interactions between various systems to identify potential problems and take steps to resolve issues found
Conduct exploratory testing when features of an application have changed to ascertain impact of changes and rectify if needed with developers
Take ownership and accountability for the performance plan, profiling, creation of scripts and test execution in line with the project goals and deliverables
Attend peer reviews of requirements and software to ensure in depth knowledge of the functionality of the software in order to deploy various testing scenarios to ensure resiliency
of JSE systems
Manage and coordinate test data creation, collection, and modification and prepare data tables to associate with the test scripts
Ensure high quality level of testing as per requirements from business to ensure continuity of systems and no interruption of business when application goes into production
Liaise with developers to ensure product specifications are met and clarify specific testing requirements and track advances as per set schedule
Design and implement test cases by using expert knowledge to resolve any systems and/or customer-related problems
Track and document test progress and results, devise and code scripts for automation, and analyse and debug hardware and software defects
Deliver quality work products according to the defined testing scope, raising risks and issues appropriately with the Project Test Team lead with regard to the performance of tasks or timelines scheduled.
Track actual completed conditions and progress on Quality Centre and send out regular status/progress reports to project sponsors/team and evaluate test results to determine whether software satisfies its requirements
Detect and log defects with all necessary information for advanced troubleshooting by running relevant system monitoring scans
Work closely with SME’s, Developers and other teams, as necessary, to assist in resolving identified performance bottlenecks and inform affected parties of changes in a timely and appropriate fashion
Perform technical test analysis and testing (including security, performance, regression and functional integration) on projects, incidents and work requests to ensure smooth running of systems within JSE
Research and develop testing tools, techniques, and process improvements to ensure best practice testing applications/procedures to mitigate risks/security breaches
Minimum requirements
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or 4 additional years of IT experience
Postgraduate degree
5 years solid, hands–on performance test experience using industry standard performance test tools
Financial testing background with Investment Banking, Fund Management, Accounting, Treasury or Financial services testing experience
Minimum of 6 years of experience in a previous testing environment Proficient in Microsoft .Net or other relevant programming knowledge with the ability to write medium to complex SQL database queries
5 years Automation test experience
Minimum 2 years experience in integration/API technologies will be advantageous
MSMQ experience
TFS/Azure DevOps experience
BizTalk is an advantage
Agile experience
SQL database skills
Understanding of Windows servers
Basic understanding of CEP: API testing
