JSE Data Governance Analyst - Steward Jobs in South Africa


  • To assist with and provide operational support in the formation and execution of the organization’s Data Governance function, including the Data Governance framework, principles, policy, procedures, and standards to drive adoption of DG capabilities across the organization.

  • Contribute to the enterprise wide Information Governance strategy and approach through research of the relevant environment and aligning with best practice.

  • Apply cost effectiveness principles in planning and delivery to contribute to achievement of divisional financial targets.

  • Facilitate the establishment (planning) frameworks and methodologies and setting and executing JSE EIG Roadmap through facilitation with business units.

  • Monitors implementation of data policies across the organization to ensure high quality and available data within the organization.

  • Provide daily oversight and strategy execution of data governance and data quality framework consistent with the organizations goals and objectives applying knowledge and insight.

  • Ensure systems, products or projects delivered contributes to improve client/JSE service by providing input on budgets, resources required and process based on the understanding of costs, business objectives and relationship with external suppliers and stakeholders.

  • Provide input into the formalisation for the divisional budget.

    Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships with information owners and data stewards and relevant staff to ensure buy-in and commitment, to ensure that applicable best practice is implemented and to ensure understanding of their needs and requirements and that these
    are appropriately addressed.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate across broad parts of the organization e.g. system/data/product owners, heads of business units to solicit information and advise on appropriate response and/or queries as may be necessary, question validity of information submitted and influence decision-making based on risk management framework.

  • Build strategic JSE / Industry/ Global network of thought leaders and relationships utilising social media, attending and presenting at conferences and training interventions.

  • Must be a “self-starter “and comfortable working with relatively little initial guidance.

  • Improve personal capability and professional growth relating to field of expertise, in line with JSE objectives by discussing development needs and proposed solutions with management.

  • Upskill information owners, data stewards and other professionals by sharing knowledge and research results.

  • Epitomise living the JSE values, displaying professional conduct and adherence to required technical standards.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities, and responsibilities in a dynamic environment, while maintaining attention to detail.

    Transformation and Innovation Contribution

  • Analyse, research, develop and implement improvement/ innovative ideas and value adding solutions contributing to divisional and JSE results.

  • Optimise and improve systems and work processes to drive productivity and reduce cost for own and corporate initiatives.

    Minimum requirements

    Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years specialised information management experience and experience in financial services or investment banking.
