John Snow Inc Supply Chain Director Jobs in Uganda


SI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) seeks candidates for a Technical Director based in Uganda for an anticipated multi-year donor-funded public health supply chain program, subject to award. The Technical Director will provide program development and implementation support to the technical staff.

S/he will work closely with the Chief of Party and Deputy Chief of Party, and other Project Management Team (PMT) members and will be required to have strong supply chain technical expertise, and have deep knowledge and experience implementing supply chain interventions in East Africa.

S/he will also directly provide support in developing detailed implementation plans and follow through of the plans in the project areas.

The Supply Chain Director will work in coordination with the Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research Director, and Finance and Operations. He/ She will also work closely with JSI Home Office Technical Senior Advisors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction and supervision to project staff on supply chain management, and in partnership with key stakeholders at national and district levels
  • Align the project detailed implementation plan with national and district level activities
  • Strengthen project implementation quality and accountability; ensuring quality project
    Implementation progress reports development and submission to key stakeholders including USAID
  • Support technical reporting and documentation on the project goals to USAID and key stakeholders in coordination with M&E lead, Deputy chief of Party and Chief of Party, and the home office Senior technical lead
  • Maintain and develop the project’s relationships with key partners and stakeholders
  • Facilitate communication and feedback between district and national project implementation and decision making levels
  • Dynamic, adaptable and quick learner with a track record of building capability in supply chain systems;
  • Experience in adopting leading practices and designing and implementing digital supply chain solutions;
  • Leadership skills in working collaboratively and effectively engaging with other donors, host country institutions, and international organizations;
  • Capacity in managing for results;
    Technical expertise in at least one of the Activity priority areas (procurement, warehousing, distribution, supply chain, technical assistance for supply
    chain system strengthening), with sufficient understanding of all these areas to direct integrated, collaboration and coordination efforts;
  • Knowledge of USG-funded program management, policies, regulations, and procedures;
  • High level of interpersonal, technical, and analytical skills including a demonstrated ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of public and private sector counterparts and other key stakeholders;
  • Excellent skills in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with senior level government officials; and
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and oral and written communication skills in English

    Requirements

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in managing and providing technical support to large complex international projects with significant supply chain management and related technical assistance components
  • A Master’s degree in supply chain management, business management, pharmacy, public health or a related field or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in experience above.
  • Local national/resident with experience working in multiple countries.
  • Experience in adopting leading practices and designing and implementing digital supply chain solutions.
  • Local national or resident with experience preference working in multiple countries, particularly Africa.
  • Experience leading supply chain management interventions funded by USAID preferred
  • Experience developing detailed implementation work plans, and in partnership with key stakeholders; Ministry of Health and project implementing partners
  • Demonstrated ability in technical organizational capacity building, supply chain strengthening, policy development and health systems strengthening
  • Well-versed working in a multi-cultural environment
